Sip Like You’re In Spain: Try this Authentic Cocktail Recipe

When you think of a tasty cocktail from Spain, the first thing that typically comes to mind is Sangria. However, after spending several months in the beautiful country, I learned that each area I traveled to had a special cocktail that was a must-try for travelers. So when I spent a few days in Valencia, I couldn’t wait to try their most popular cocktail, Agua de Valencia, also known as Valencian water. This delicious cocktail was created in the 1950s by a gentleman named Constante Gil in Café Madrid in Valencia. A few visitors from Basque came in to order drinks, and instead of ordering their usual drink, cava, they asked Gil to make them something different. The visitors loved the drink so much, they kept coming back!

Soon the drink became popular among other bars in the area, and even more so around Valencia with the 70’s nightlife scene. It’s been a hit ever since! The recipe includes fresh-squeezed Valencian oranges (which Valencia is known for, of course!) and cava, a sparkling wine from Spain. Reminiscent to mimosas, Agua de Valencia may become your new favorite recipe. Serve this cocktail from a pitcher – that means you’ll need to invite some friends! Have this tasty cocktail for your next afternoon gathering or weekend brunch, or anytime you please! It’s got a punch, so sit back, and sip like you’re in Spain with this tasty cocktail! I’m sure you’ll love it!

  1. Oh what a pretty drink! I am such a fan of anything fruity, and that looks so refreshing! And what a great story about where the drink originated! I may need to consider adding a trip to Spain on my bucket list!
